You may be familiar with the term “setting boundaries” and feel challenged by the emotions and sense of negativity and conflict that such a term conjures. The idea of setting boundaries might feel like it means “talk to the hand”, or remind you of neighbours who don’t talk to each other and erect high fences to keep out of each other’s private world … but there are different types of boundaries … and they can be healthy, beneficial for yourself and others, and help you create ease and flow in your life and business.

Setting boundaries is actually all about clear, honest communication that expands mutual understanding and empathy, rather than putting up a wall.

Having said that, figuring out where and how to set them can be HARD!

This is especially true if you are highly empathetic, compassionate, giving, or prone to putting the desires or needs of others before your own.

In your business, having a lack of clarity or confidence in communicating your boundaries can show up in all sorts of ways.

You can tell you suffer from a lack of boundaries when:

  • You set your schedule to enable bookings at times of the day when you’d rather be sleeping or feeding your family or prioritising something else.

  • You allow a 30-minute free coaching session to run way over time.

  • You provide a refund even if it is outside your terms and conditions

  • You say “yes” to working with someone when deep down you want to say “no”.

  • You agree to write a proposal and spend hours or days sweating over it and personalising it, when past experience tells you to simply share a link to your sales page!

  • You drop your price out of fear you won’t get the sale.

… and so on. Without the clarity and confidence around setting boundaries, you are at the whim of others, and vulnerable to emotional friction that rises up when confronted with the inevitable - resentment for your own circumstance. You can set boundaries with compassion for others and yourself, and doing so will change your life and business for the better.

Setting boundaries helps YOU get what you want, others also value knowing what the culture of your business is too. It helps others know what is acceptable communication and behaviour when dealing with you. It gives them confidence in their dealings with you, and makes it easy for you to attract people who respect your wishes.

This workbook is designed to help you identify where you can set healthy boundaries in your life, and guide you through ways to do that.
